Trego County Rural Water District No. 2 Receives
USDA Rural Development Funding
 

Buckeye, KS – First District Congressman Jerry Moran joined USDA Rural Development State Director Chuck Banks today in presenting the Trego County Rural Water District No. 2 with a check totaling $2.252 million to help fund a new extension of the District’s water system.  Funding for the project, provided through the Agency’s Water & Waste Disposal Program, will benefit 100 new rural users and one commercial connection in rural Ellis County.

 

“USDA Rural Development’s Water & Waste Disposal Program helps communities keep pace with the needs of their citizens to ensure Kansas residents have access to a clean, safe and reliable water source.  This important water program promotes the economic growth of the whole area, supports new jobs for the region and enhances the quality of life for the community’s residents,” commented State Director Banks.

 

“I congratulate this rural area and its leaders for the hard work in creating this successful project.  I would also like to compliment USDA Rural Development for their efforts associated with this project, this Agency’s programs are helping rural Kansas expand economic development opportunities in our state,” commented Congressman Moran.

 

To serve the needs of the new users, the project will include installation of approximately 95 miles of water line, construct a 100,000 gallon elevated storage tank, and a telemetry control system.  USDA Rural Development funding consisted of $1,272,800 loan and $979,200 grant proceeds.  RWD No. 2 will contribute $40,000 to supplement the Agency’s funds.
