The DASIS Report:  Marijuana Treatment Admissions Increase: 1993-1999

Highlights:

  • Marijuana treatment admission rates increased in 41 States between 1993 and 1999.  

  • Rates increased by 150 percent or more in 10 States and 100-149 percent in another eight States.  

  • States reporting 102 admissions or less per 100,000 persons aged 12 or older fell from 91 percent in 1993 to 39 percent in 1999.

This Short Report,  The DASIS Report:  Marijuana Treatment Admissions Increase: 1993-1999, is based on the Drug and Alcohol Services Information System (DASIS), the primary source of national data on substance abuse treatment.  DASIS is conducted by the Office of Applied Studies (OAS) in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
