ACF NAMES SHARON FUJII AS PACIFIC-WEST HUB DIRECTOR The HHS Administration for Children and Families (ACF) announced today that Sharon M. Fujii will serve as the new Pacific-West Regional Hub Director, working in a new collaborative relationship between the ACF regional offices in San Francisco and Seattle. Ms. Fujii has over 25 years of experience in the social service and public administration areas. ACF is responsible for some 60 programs that provide services and assistance to children and families, including the welfare reform program signed into law by President Clinton in 1996. Among the programs Ms. Fujii will work with states, local organizations, and tribes on are: Head Start, the model pre-school program; child care; foster care and adoption assistance; child support enforcement; and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), formerly known as Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC). Prior to this appointment as Hub Director, Ms. Fujii was regional administrator for the San Francisco region with responsibility for programs in served Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, Nevada, American Samoa, and the Far Pacific Jurisdictions. Previously, she served as the regional administrator of the Family Support Administration and the regional director of the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement in San Francisco. She has also worked with the City of Seattle and with the Washington State government. The Pacific-West region comprises Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington State, and the Far Pacific Jurisdictions. ### Note: All HHS press releases, fact sheets and other press materials are available at http://www.hhs.gov/news.
