APPLICANT SUPPLY INFORMATION: NIST also collects applications or resumes for future job openings in a range of occupational areas. STUDENT POSITIONS: As a premier scientific and technical research organization, NIST employs students in a variety of temporary positions in the excepted service Students are appointed through either the Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) or the Student Career Experience Program (SCEP). STEP students typically work full-time schedules during the summer and other school vacation periods. Local students may also elect to work part-time while attending school. SCEP students have a work-study schedule that is established with the school and the mentor. Student's academic or career goals should be related to the duties of the position. Students may submit one application for the STEP or SCEP.
