Ready for an FMS Career?

Young peopleWhen you work for FMS, you'll encounter daily challenges and opportunities that will build a solid foundation for your future career and you'll enjoy the latest and most sophisticated computer, telecommunications, and data management technology. There are several ways you can join our team. Most often, the procedure involves checking our vacancy announcements and submitting an application for vacancies you wish to receive consideration.

In accordance with federal regulations, an application may consist of a resume; Optional Form 612PDF File, Optional Application for Federal Employment; or other submission. Regardless of the format used, the resume or application must contain your experience, education, and citizenship to be considered for employment with the federal government.

You should also submit a brief narrative statement addressing each of the quality ranking factors (knowledge, skills, and abilities). You must submit all of the required information, as stated in an announcement, or your application will not be considered.

Reinstatement eligibles and current federal government applicants must submit an application, their most recent annual performance appraisal, their Notification of Personnel Action (form SF-50 or equivalent) indicating the highest federal civilian grade held, and a statement addressing their possession of the quality ranking factors (knowledge, skills, and abilities) if not adequately addressed in their application.

An applicant checklist is provided to assist you in completing your application package. A downloadable OF 612 is provided for your convenience. For more information on federal employment and a sample resume, visit www.usajobs.opm.gov.

Who may apply:

NON-STATUS applicants are persons who are not in the federal competitive service and have no reinstatement eligibility. These applicants may apply for any vacancy announcement that states the announcement is open to: "ALL SOURCES" or "NON-STATUS" or "ALL QUALIFIED APPLICANTS."

STATUS applicants are persons who have a career or career-conditional appointment in the competitive service or have reinstatement eligibility. These applicants may apply for any vacancy within the area of consideration.

SURPLUS OR DISPLACED employees may have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP). They must submit proof which identifies them as being in a surplus organization or occupation. See the vacancy announcement for more information.
