Classification, National Library of Medicine
Published annually online only beginning with 2002.  Incorporates all additions and changes to the classification schedules since the previous edition to reflect developments in biomedicine, notably medical informatics, biotechnology, immune complex disease, research, and public health. Index is revised annually and includes many new concepts from the latest edition of the Medical Subject Headings Annotated Alphabetic List (MeSH®). The NLM Classification is available free online via the World Wide Web and is fully searchable.  The NLM Classification also features hyperlinks from the Index headings to the appropriate classification numbers in the Schedules; from any MeSH term in the Index to full descriptor data in the MeSH Browser; from cross-references within the Index to the referred term; between and among numbers within the text of the Schedules; to the geographic table G, and to other appropriate documentation.   It may be downloaded in HTML via FTP from the site.

The online National Library of Medicine Classification, available at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/class/, was issued in a newly revised edition on July 14, 2003. This revision incorporates all new Index headings resulting from MeSH terms added to the 2003 vocabulary and selected for addition to the Index.

The new edition contains 133 new MeSH concepts and nearly seven hundred index entries were brought into closer compliance with MeSH; in addition, four new Schedule numbers were added and 40 Schedule records were maintained since the 2002 revised edition was published on February 4, 2003.
