NOAA (S/V) BAY HYDROGRAPHER is operated by the Hydrographic Surveys Division of NOAA's Office of Coast Survey and is stationed in Norfolk,VA, at NOAA's Marine Operations, Atlantic. The NOAA (S/V) BAY HYDROGRAPHER is a Research and Development platform and acquires hydrographic survey data in support of Nautical Charting. Additionally, it occasionally assists other NOAA Programs. The NOAA (S/V) BAY HYDROGRAPHER works mostly in the mid-atlantic region and specializes in navigation-related development of methods and equipment for the Office of Coast Survey. Staffed normally with one Officer-In-Charge and one to two Physical Scientists or Survey Technicans, this vessel is often used to demonstrate and test current survey technologies as well as attend many public boating events to demonstrate current hydrographic technologies to the public.
