MONITORING AND EVENT RESPONSE FOR HARMFUL ALGAL BLOOMS ANNOUNCEMENT OF OPPORTUNITY
CLOSES 3:00 PM EST DECEMBER 1, 2004

(Above is a direct link to Full Announcement of Federal Funding Opportunity posted on the Grants.gov website as part of the NOAA FY 2005 Omnibus Federal Register Notice)

AGENCY: National Centers for Coastal Ocean Sciences/Center for Sponsored Coastal Ocean Research/Coastal Ocean Program (NCCOS/CSCOR/ COP), National Ocean Service (NOS), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Department of Commerce.

ACTION: Notice of Funding Availability for financial assistance for project grants and cooperative agreements.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY: NCCOS/CSCOR/COP is soliciting proposals for two types of research projects: MERHAB-targeted and MERHAB-regional. MERHAB-targeted proposals will incorporate tools, approaches and technologies from HAB research programs into existing harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring programs. MERHAB-regional proposals will create partnerships to enhance and sustain routine HAB monitoring capabilities and provide managers with timely information needed to mitigate HAB impacts on coastal communities. It is anticipated that final recommendations for funding under this announcement will be made in early Calendar Year 2005, and that projects funded under this announcement will have a August 1, 2005, start date.
