What is NCIS Safekids?

As a parent, you wouldn't leave your children alone in a strange neighborhood. You wouldn't think of letting them wander aimlessly on a busy street or highway. And you would never allow them to stroll through an adult bookstore, or have secret meetings with strangers.

But the Internet is changing more than the way we do research, go shopping, or make travel plans.

Now children across the country can log onto the Internet, virtually wandering through strange neighborhoods, browsing in online adult bookstores, and "meeting" strangers in chatrooms. And it's all happening right inside our homes.

"Safekids," a computer crime prevention initiative of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), acquaints you with the darker side of the Internet and teaches you how to keep your children safe while they're online.

Armed with the knowledge and the tools, your children will be safer while they're online, and you'll know an unsafe situation when you see one.

A bit of prevention is worth a gigabyte of cure...
