Corporate and Foundation Alliance (CFA)

The Corporate and Foundation Alliance

Overview

The Corporate and Foundation Alliance (CFA) is composed of companies and foundations committed to the revitalization of undergraduate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. The CFA was established during NSF's Roundtable on "Shaping the Future of Undergraduate Education Through Institution-Wide Reform," held on April 18, 1996. Eight organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding at that time. Since then, the group has grown to over three dozen members.

At an early meeting of the CFA, three general topics were identified as important foci for the group's continuing discussions: faculty development, science literacy and awareness, and teacher preparation. Subsequent semiannual meetings have focused on these topics.
