HIV Vaccine Awareness Day Message The Seventh Annual HIV Vaccine Awareness Day (HVAD) provides a
great opportunity to thank the thousands of people who are working to
help find an HIV preventive vaccinethe clinical trial volunteers,
nurses, community educators/recruiters, and the researchers. This year's
theme is "Real People. Real Progress." To learn why thousands of individuals across the country will be wearing
their red AIDS ribbons upside down on May 18, and what you can do to participate
in HVAD, visit the HVAD Web site at http://www.aidsinfo.nih.gov/other/vaccineday2004.asp.
This site contains an HVAD Tool Kit (fact sheets, statistics, talking
points, media tools) and allows you to view HVAD bilingual print ads and
listen to bilingual radio spots. On May 18, wear your red AIDS ribbon upside down to form a "V"
for "vaccines" and the "vision" of a world without
AIDS. All Americans, especially communities of color and men who have sex with men, need to learn more about HIV vaccine research. Be part of making an HIV vaccine a reality.
