AHRQ Publishes New Online Pocket Guide To Child Health

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has published "Pocket Guide To Good Health For Children," a comprehensive guide that gives parents and caregivers insight to the health care that children need to help them healthy through the stages of childhood development.

Part of AHRQ's PPIN (Put Prevention Into Practice) tools, the Pocket Guide is available in English and Spanish. It covers topics such as checkups, tests, and immunizations; growth and development; and what to expect from your healthcare provider. The guide helps parents with issues such as what questions to ask your child's doctor, why immunizations are important and when children should have them, and charts and checklists to help keep track of children's health issues.

Part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), AHRQ is supports research designed to improve the quality of health care, reduce its cost, and broaden access to essential services. The Pocket Guide was developed by the U.S. Prevention Services Task Force, which evaluates and updates recommendations on clinical preventive services and makes them available on the AHRQ Web site. Put Prevention Into Practice tools are revised regularly to correspond with Task Force updates and are also available on the AHRQ Web site.
