With Selective Service
If
you are visiting our website to register with Selective

The
Military Selective Service Act, Selective Service
regulations, and the President’s Proclamation on Registration
require that you provide this information.
When you click the “Submit” button, this information
is transmitted using encryption technology and stored
in a secure database guarded against unauthorized
electronic and physical access.
Failure to register may violate the Military
Selective Service Act.
Conviction for such a violation may result
in imprisonment for up to five years and/or a fine
of not more than $250,000.

Verify
a Registration With Selective Service
If you or an interested party such as an educational
institution is verifying your registration on our
website, we will collect personally identifying information.
You or the interested party will have to click
on the icon or picture entitled “Verify a Registration”.
A form will be displayed with the following
information to be filled out:

Social Security Number
3.
Date of Birth
When
you click the “Submit” button, this information is
transmitted to our storage facility using encryption
technology and our database is queried.
Results are passed back to your browser confirming
registration/non-registration with Selective Service.

Report
a Change of Address Online
Men
between the ages of 18 through 25 are required by
law to notify the Selective Service of an address
change within 10 days.
If you are reporting a change of address, we
will collect personally identifying information. Under the “Key Information” section of our website, you will
have to click on the link “Report a Change of Address
Online”. A
form will be displayed with the following information
to be filled out:

Selective Service Number
2.
Name
3.
Address
4.
Social Security Number
5.
Date of Birth.
When you click the “Submit” button, this information
is transmitted to our secure database using encryption
technology and if key fields match our database, your
address will be modified.

Request
Information on Becoming a Local Board Member
If
you would like to become a Local Board Member with
Selective Service, you can request that an application
for board membership be sent to you.
Under the “Key Information” section of our
website, you will have to click on the link “Board
Member Application”.
A form will be displayed with the following
information to be filled out:
1.
Name
2.
Address
3.
Telephone Number
When
you click the “Submit” button, you will receive a
confirmation that the information you entered was
received at our secure server.
You should then receive within a reasonable
period of time an application for board membership,
a business reply envelope, and a Board Member Information
Booklet that gives details on Board Member responsibilities.
Once you have completed and mailed your Potential
Board Member Application Form 404, a Selective Service
employee will contact you to schedule a personal interview.

Sharing
Your Information With Other Government Agencies
Registration
information may be shared with the following government
agencies for the purposes stated:
1.
Department of Justice – for review and processing
of suspected violations of the Military Selective
Service Act (MSSA), for perjury, and for defense of
a civil action arising from administrative processing
under such Act.
2.
Department of State and U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Service - for collection and evaluation
of data to determine a person’s eligibility for entry/reentry
into the United States and for United States citizenship.
3.
Department of Defense and U.S. Coast Guard
– to exchange data concerning registration, classification,
induction, and examination of registrants and for
identification of prospects for recruiting.
4.
Department of Labor – to assist veterans in
need of data concerning reemployment rights, and for
determination of eligibility for benefits under the
Workforce Investment Act.
5.
Department of Education – to determine eligibility
for student financial assistance.
6.
Bureau of the Census – for the purposes of
planning or carrying out a census or survey or related
activity pursuant to the provisions of Title 13.
7.
Office of Personnel Management and U.S. Postal
Service – to determine eligibility for employment.
8.
Department of Health and Human Services – to
determine a person’s proper Social Security Number
and for locating parents pursuant to the Child Support
Enforcement Act [42 U.S.C. 653 (e) (2)].
9.
State and Local Governments – to provide data
that may constitute evidence and facilitate the enforcement
of state and local law.
10.
Alternative Service Employers – to exchange
information with employers regarding a registrant
who is a conscientious objector for the purpose of
placement and supervision of performance of alternative
service in lieu of induction into the military service.
