About SAFECOM


This section contains documents pertaining to SAFECOM’s mission, strategy, and activities.

Coordination and Partnerships


This section provides information on the SAFECOM Program's partnerships and interactions with the public safety community. It also provides reports on past SAFECOM Program symposiums.

Spectrum


This section contains information and resources related to radio spectrum and frequency allocation for public safety networks. All spectrum docket information is archived here as well.

Funding


This section contains documents related to funding for public safety wireless systems. It includes reports on funding mechanisms, funding strategies, and the cost of replacing the Nation's public safety land mobile radio (LMR) equipment and infrastructure.

Standards and Technology


This section includes documents relating to developing and implementing open standards for public safety communications equipment. It also provides studies of emerging technologies that can be used in the development of public safety communications networks.

Security


This section offers a high-level briefing on security problems and solutions for public safety communications systems. It also includes documents that focus on digital land mobile radio (DLMR) systems: a problem statement, recommended security policy and guidelines, and a planning template.

Systems Planning


This section presents guidance for public safety communications system planners. It includes a road map or overview of systems development and a "how to" guide to managing the radio system life cycle.

Case Based Tutorials


Take an interactive approach to interoperability using the new Case Based Tutorials. The first tutorial is now available and is based on coordination and partnerships.
