Hanford Site Contractors

The Department of Energy (DOE) owns and operates the 586-square mile Hanford Site in Southeastern Washington State. The DOE's Richland Operations Office and Office of River Protection at Hanford are two of many offices nationwide that manage sites and programs within the DOE Complex.

At Hanford, DOE-RL and ORP rely on a team of contractors to carry out mission requirements for cleaning up the legacy of nearly five decades of support to the nation's defense. Those contractors are identified below with links to the pages that provide further information on each one. Contractors at Hanford are selected based on individual areas of expertise - - primarily management of site operations, environmental restoration, research/development, and health services. DOE-RL and ORP provide policy and direction, the contractors conduct the work, and DOE-RL and ORP oversee their performance in meeting mission objectives.

While each contractor has specific areas of responsibility within the Hanford clean up program they work together when necessary to ensure that programs, projects, and activities at Hanford are coordinated and accomplished efficiently with emphasis on safety of the workforce and the public and protection of the environment.
