Emerald Ash Borer Home Page

Welcome to the U.S. Forest Service home page dedicated to the emerald ash borer. This insect is a newly reported beetle (summer 2002) from Asia found attacking and killing ash (genus Fraxinus) trees in southern Michigan, adjacent Windsor, Canada and locations in Ohio, and Indiana. Maryland reported emerald ash borer infested trees at a nursery in September 2003. The Michigan Department of Agriculture and the USDA have placed a quarantine on 13 counties in Southeast, MI to reduce the likelihood of transporting the beetle outside the currently infested area. Our intent with this web site is to provide you with recent and reliable information on this insect.
