The National Science Foundation maintains two overseas offices, one in
Tokyo, and one in Paris. The NSF Tokyo Regional
Office monitors developments of interest to NSF in Japan and
elsewhere in the East Asia and Pacific region and supports the
implementation of cooperative programs between NSF and its counterpart
organizations in the region. Options accessible through their website
provide information about East Asian and Pacific institutions relevant to
NSF's mission, as well as information on opportunities for research and
education in the region. The Office prepares, solicits and reproduces
several types of reports primarily for the
use of NSF management and staff which it also makes more widely available
by electronic means. These include policy relevant reports on significant
science-and technology-related events and trends in Japan and other East
Asian countries, special scientific reports on research development
related to NSF’s mission, and reports prepared by NSF’s AWARE program
award recipients relevant to the region.
