I was proud to sponsor an amendment
that passed the House recently which will help rehab patients across
the nation. The measure halts the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services’ (CMS) implementation of a new policy rule,
known as the “75% Rule.” Currently under this new rule,
fewer Americans will have access to rehab care. And this amendment
will help to reverse that.
This amendment will help fix the problem by ensuring that experts
are studying the issue and making recommendations that will improve
this policy. It is important that physicians and medical professionals
have input to change these outdated requirements. This will help
ensure that people can get the rehabilitative care they need after
suffering from cardiac surgery, stroke, hip or knee replacements
and get back to their daily routine as quickly as possible.
