The Defense Finance and Accounting Service - San Antonio
was activated June 20, 1996, as part of the consolidation
of service finance and accounting operations.
Directed by Colonel Robert
T. Cook, U.S. Army. DFAS San Antonio is located on the San Antonio
River in beautiful downtown San Antonio, Texas.
DFAS San Antonio is Denver’s only "purple" Field Organization, supporting
the Air Education and Training Command (AETC), 5th U.S. Army, and
U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM). DFAS San Antonio provides vendor pay services
for both the Army and Air Force. In addition to providing the full range of
accounting services for its major customers, the location also provides travel
accounting service to the Air Force and travel computation service for the
Army. Customers include:
- Air Education and Training Command (13 active AF bases)
- Air Force Personnel Center
- Air Force Intelligence Agency (worldwide)
- Air Force Services Agency
- 14 Air National Guard units
- U.S. Army Medical Command (73 activities, 42 locations
worldwide)
- 5th U.S. Army
