Juan N. Cento to Chair FedEx-USHCC Foundation Golf Classic
Washington, DC/Austin, TX – The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USHCC) has named Juan N. Cento, President of the FedEX Express Latin America & Caribbean Division, the Honorary Chair of the FedEx-USHCC Foundation 4th Annual Golf Classic, the official kick-off of the USHCC 25th Annual National Convention and Business Expo in Austin, TX. The Golf Classic will take place on September 15, 2004 at the world-renown Hills Country Club, designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus.
Proceeds from the Golf Classic will benefit the Foundation’s Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative. For the past four years, the Foundation has been committed to giving Latino youth alternatives for life preparation and life-long learning through a series of initiatives and programs to help nurture their entrepreneurial spirit.
“Mr. Cento is a dynamic business leader, who has also dedicated his life to advancing our nation’s young people,” said Frank Lopez, USHCC Foundation President. “We are honored that he will headline this year’s USHCC Foundation Golf Classic.”

Centro has more than 27 years of experience in the air cargo and express transportation industry. He previously worked with Flying Tigers Line, Inc. and transitioned to FedEx in 1989 when the two companies were combined. Cento is actively involved in several non-profit organizations. In 2002 he was appointed Chairman of the Board for the International Kids Fund and continues to work with the United Way as an International Disaster Relief Advisory Board Member. He continues working with the United Way in supporting their annual campaigns. As a member of the Executive Committee for the National Hispanic Corporate Achievers Association, Cento has been instrumental in positioning the Hispanic business community, as well as the younger Hispanic generation, for future success. In 1999 he was honored by this association with the Hispanic Achiever of the Year Award and in 2002 he received their Humanitarian Award.
