Postexposure Prophylaxis for Selected Infectious Diseases

Recommendation

Postexposure prophylaxis should be provided to selected persons with exposure or possible exposure to:

• Haemophilus influenzae type b.
• Hepatitis A.
• Hepatitis B.
• Meningococcal pathogens.
• Rabies pathogens
• Tetanus pathogens.

Additional recommendations are provided in Adult Immunizations, on postexposure prophylaxis against influenza A.
