Sayle joined members of the President’s Council on Service and Civic
Participation to help renovate and enhance Watkins Elementary School in
Southeast Washington, D.C., on Thursday, September 30, 2004. Participants made
improvements to the playground, worked on landscaping, completed projects with
students in classrooms, and spoke with students about the importance of
volunteer service. Volunteers also created a memorial garden for a Watkins
teacher who died last school year.

public lands at an awards ceremony at the Department of the Interior's
headquarters in Washington, D.C.

at home, and volunteering in the place of deployed military personnel.
