The National Incident Information Center (NIIC) gathers and disseminates information on fires and other natural disasters that occur nationwide. The staff summarizes technical information for ease of understanding and assists in providing this information to interested groups and individuals and elected officials at the federal, state, and local levels. The Morning Report is the primary document containing this information.

2003 FIRE YEAR REVIEW

THE MORNING REPORT

The Morning Report is published daily during fire season and provides information on the current wildland fire situation, regional fire summaries, weather reports, burned area rehabilitation activities and closure orders for fires 500 acres and larger.

The Morning Report will no longer be available. Up to date information is available from the - National Interagency Fire Center

PREPAREDNESS LEVEL

The National Preparedness Level is at Level 2. This means that sufficient firefighting resources are available in each geographic area, favorable weather is predicted, and large fire activity has diminished significantly. The Preparedness Level changes as the threat of wildland fire changes.
