FILM
The Mary Pickford Theater has recently reopened following
renovations that provide greater accessibility for disabled
patrons. Tonight's feature: "Those Free Kings!" Rahsaan
Roland Kirk, Horace Silver and Lee Morgan (part of the "Jazz
and Soul" series) at 7 p.m. Two major series predominate in the fall
programming: 14 films are presented in conjunction with the
Library exhibition "'With an Even Hand': Brown v. Board at
Fifty," and 10 nights are devoted to jazz and soul
television performances in a series co-sponsored with the
Music Division. Other films are screened in conjunction with
the Library's "From Haven to Home" exhibition. Scattered
throughout are more National Film Registry nomination
screenings, femme fatales and a lot more music. Reservations
may be made by phone, beginning one week before any given
show. Call 707-5677 during business hours. Reserved seats
must be claimed at least 10 minutes before showtime, after
which standbys will be admitted to unclaimed seats. All
programs begin at 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted and are
free, but seating is limited to 60 seats. The Mary Pickford
Theater is located on the third floor of the Madison building.

educational performance suitable for students ages 10 and
above, is offered in connection with the Library's
exhibition marking 350 years of Jewish life in America. The
program, at 10:30 a.m. in the Coolidge Auditorium, is

CONCERT
The recently formed Kopelman Quartet (right), consisting of four
distinguished musicians whose style and musical outlook
reflect the classic Russian tradition of the Moscow
Conservatory, presents works by Prokofiev, Miaskovsky and
Tchaikovsky in their first appearance at the Library of
Congress at 8 p.m. in the Coolidge Auditorium. Tickets are
required for this event; they are distributed by
Ticketmaster at (301) 808-6900 or (410) 752-1200 and are
limited to two per call. Each ticket carries a service
charge of $2.75, with additional charges for phone orders
and handling. Tickets are also available at Ticketmaster
