Performance management seeks to increase the organzation's product or service output per unit of cost. Many federal organizations are beginning to recognize the importance of sound cost management in achieving their PART based performance commitments. In his recent book, "Winning the Cost War", Dr.. Geiger provides the results of 12 years of research into cost based performance management within the federal government. This course develops a management approach that is not dependent on the profit motives found in the business world. Dr. Dale R. Geiger, Professor Managerial Accounting, California State University
After 3 degrees from MIT, a 17-year career in industry, and a Doctorate from the Harvard Business School, Dr. Geiger has spent the last 15 years studying cost measurement and cost management in government. He has contributed to development of the FASAB standard on Managerial Cost Accounting, published numberous articles on tbis subject, and authored a book entitled: "Winning the Cost War".
