Volunteers are needed to assist the Palominas Area BLM along with the Polominas Firewise Community, Palominas Community Alliance, Palominas Fire Department, and the Boy Scouts of America to create a firebreak, restore native vegetation and to pretreat cottonwoods to protect them from prescribed fire in the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area. 9th Annual Fall Mystic River Cleanup

Volunteers are needed to assist the Friends of the Mystic River cleanup the shorelines of along the Mystic River. Rakes, bags, gloves, and pokers will be supplied, or bring your own. Refreshments will be provided. Directions: meet at the parking lot off Route 16 (Mystic Valley Parkway), where the parkway crosses the Mystic River, near the Condon band shell in Medford. Description | Get your hands dirty and learn how to build sustainable and fun singletrack. The school includes three hours of classroom instruction followed by hands-on-time in the field learning trail building techniques. Topics include designing a contour trail, controlling water flow, building effective trail structures, and routine trail maintenance. Field work will be hands-on, so come prepared. Long pants and a long sleeved shirt are recommended. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water, snacks, work gloves, sunscreen, and a hat. Also, if you have any trail building tools - pulaskis, McLeods, rakes, picks, shovels, etc., please bring them along. If you would like more information please visit IMBA's website at www.IMBA.com.
