"If you want to search all the collections in this category, 1. enter keywords 2. select submit Or if you want to search some, but not all collections in this category, ...(your text)" Also - is "press" appropriate? Isn't "select" more widely appropriate?

If you've chosen a "Browse by category" link on American Memory then the list provided includes a column of selected checkboxes to the left of the link to the individual collection. If you want to search all the collections in this category, then:

  1. enter keywords
  2. select submit

In order to search more than one collection at a time the following steps are required.

  1. Un-select the collections you do not want searched or press clear all. Then select only the collections to search.
  2. Return to the "Search selected collections" edit box and type in the keywords you want to search.
  3. Select the search button.
