Naval Aviation Terms

If you aren't a naval aviator, when you read an Approach article you may find yourself buffeted by aviation jargon and cryptic globs of capital letters. To help you decode this unusual language, we've compiled a list of common acronyms, initializations and terms that will help you understand our authors.

Click here to go directly to our list.  It's in a ".doc" format.  If you would like to download the file, right click on the link and choose "Save Target As" to save the file to your local drive.

If you have any questions, would like to comment on the list or want to add an acronym, e-mail derek.nelson@navy.mil. Doing so will earn you a Bravo Zulu.

You can also find a good list of terms on the Tailhook Aviator Slang page.
