Watershed Processes and Modeling

This project conducts research in watershed processes and modeling. Work is done in cooperation with USGS projects and personnel located in Kansas, Colorado, California, Virginia, Vermont, New York, South Dakota, and North Carolina.

The main purpose of this web page is to "point" the reader to published material produced by the project.

Some ongoing and recently completed areas of research are:

• Studies using the watershed model TOPMODEL
• An evaluation of landscape heterogeneity in ecoregions
• Effects of digital elevation models (DEM) resolution on landscape characteristics
• A compilation of STATSGO soils data for the conterminous US
• A comparison of landscape characteristics between NAWQA basins and the population of basins in the conterminous US
• Relations between terrain characteristics and stream chemistry
• Effects of climate change on  water resources
