Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

LIHEAP is a federally-funded program to help eligible low income households meet their home heating and/or cooling needs. An overview of the program is available in our LIHEAP brochure which can be viewed either in a htm or PDF file (360KB). To view the PDF file, you will need to obtain and install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

LIHEAP es un programa financiado por el gobierno para ayudar a las familias de bajos ingresos a pagar sus cuentas de calefacción y de aire acondicionado. El folleto del programa federal LIHEAP ofrece un cuadro panorámico del mismo que se puede leer en español, tanto en formato de texto como en PDF (328KB). The Federal Government began providing energy assistance in Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 1974. The U.S. Administration of Children and Families' Division of Energy Assistance in the Office of Community Services administers LIHEAP at the federal level.
