Thank you for visiting the Web site of the National Child Care Information Center (NCCIC). The purpose of this Privacy Notice is to explain the types of information NCCIC collects and maintains. This applies to our Web site and to other NCCIC operations.

Information Automatically Collected and Stored.

As a service of the Child Care Bureau, Administration for Children and Families (ACF), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, NCCIC does not collect any information about you other than information automatically collected and stored when you visit our Web site, unless you choose to provide us with additional information. NCCIC, does not disclose, give, sell or transfer any personal information about our visitors, unless required for law enforcement by statute.

Personal information about visitors that is automatically collected and temporarily stored includes:

  • The name of the domain used to access the Internet (e.g., aol.com if you accessed our Web site via America Online, or georgetown.edu if connected from Georgetown University's domain).
  • The date and time of visit to our site.
  • The pages visited on our site.
  • The type of browser used (e.g., Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer).
  • The Internet address of the Web site from which the visitor linked to our site.

We use this information for statistical purposes in order to make the Web site more useful to our visitors.

Information You Provide to NCCIC

Personal information is not required. If you choose to provide us with additional information about yourself, your information will be temporarily stored and will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it. Your information will NOT be shared. Communications that are considered official correspondence are maintained, as required by law, for historical purposes. These communications are archived on a regular basis, but are also protected by the Privacy Act, which restricts our use of them, yet permits certain disclosures.

NCCIC What’s New E-mail Alert. We are continuously improving and updating the information on our site. Subscribe to the NCCIC What’s New E-mail Alert to obtain highlights of additions to Web site features and content. Only your name and e-mail are needed. When you complete the E-mail Alert Signup form your information is stored as a contact record in our listerv. Should you elect to be removed from the What’s New E-mail list, your contact record is permanently deleted. NCCIC does not disclose, give, sell or transfer any personal information, including e-mail addresses, unless required for law enforcement by statute.

AskNCCIC. AskNCCIC is the electronic question-answering service provided by NCCIC. Complete the online AskNCCIC Form to ask any question related to child care. In order to respond to your request for information, we note the information you provide on the request form.
