Secretary Chao Announces Personal Reemployment Account Demonstration

U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao announced a $9 million project to demonstrate Personal Reemployment Accounts (PRAs) in selected states. Personal Reemployment Accounts will provide up to $3,000 in personally managed funds that eligible unemployed workers can use to purchase the job training or supportive services they need to find a new job.

ETA Grants Financial Management Training November 15 - 19, 2004: Chicago, Illinois

The Employment and Training Administration's Office of Grants and Contract Management is pleased to announce an in-depth training opportunity for financial and administrative professionals.

During the week of November 15th in Chicago, Illinois, financial managers will learn the financial and administrative principles and practices that pertain to the One-Stop system and all other ETA-funded grant programs.

President Bush Announces Funding to Serve Returning Members of the National Guard and Military Reserves

To inform the state workforce investment system of the opportunity to apply for Secretary's discretionary National Emergency Grant(NEG) funds, pursuant to the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Title I, Section 173, as amended, to provide employment-related assistance for members of the National Guard and Military Reserves who were required to interrupt or postpone employment-related assistance (including training funded by Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA)) in order to fulfill requirements involving deployment to Iraq, Afghanistan or other locations.

U.S. Assistant Secretary of Labor Addresses the Importance of Training Hispanic Workers For Careers in Growing Industries

U.S. Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employment and Training Emily Stover DeRocco addressed over 700 human resource and training executives from the hospitality industry this week. DeRocco spoke about the importance of providing occupational and language skills training to the Hispanic workforce for careers in growth sectors during the annual Multicultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance conference in the nation’s capital.
