ATSDR MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT
Oak Ridge Reservation
Health Effects Subcommittee
Meeting Postponed

For Immediate Release: April 18, 2002

What: The Oak Ridge Reservation Health Effects Subcommittee (ORRHES), today announced that the subcommittee meeting originally planned for May 6, 2002, has been postponed. The agenda items for this meeting will be presented and discussed at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the subcommittee which will take place in Oak Ridge on June 18, 2002.

Why: The chairpersons of the ORRHES work groups and staff from the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) agreed that additional work was needed on the agenda items before presenting them to the ORRHES and the public. Therefore, ATSDR agreed to postpone the meeting.

Background: The subcommittee is a representative and knowledgeable body of citizens from the Oak Ridge area. The subcommittee provides advice and recommendations to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and ATSDR about their public health activities and research at the Oak Ridge Reservation site. The subcommittee provides the public with the opportunity to work with agency staff members and to learn more about CDC and ATSDR public health activities.

For more information: Members of the community who have questions about ORRHES, or about ATSDR's work at the Oak Ridge Reservations site, can contact Bill Murray, at the ATSDR Oak Ridge Field Office at (865) 220-0295 in Oak Ridge.
