Inaugural Meeting of the Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Leadership and Management

The U.S. Department of State will conduct the inaugural meeting of the Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Leadership and Management on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Department of State in Room 1107. Deputy Secretary of State Richard L. Armitage will chair the meeting.

Secretary of State Colin L. Powell and Deputy Secretary Armitage work together with the Department’s entire management team to set priorities in diplomatic infrastructure in achieving U.S. foreign policy goals. As a result of this approach, many of the Department’s long-standing personnel and resource problems have been addressed and a cultural change has been instituted at all levels in the Department and at diplomatic missions – emphasizing the management of resource inputs to achieve policy outcomes.
