Media Note Office of the Spokesman Washington, DC September 28, 2004 Ambassador Prudence Bushnell Selected as 2004 Service to America Medal RecipientAmbassador Prudence Bushnell, currently the Dean of the Leadership and Management School at the National Foreign Affairs Training Center, has been selected as the 2004 recipient of the prestigious Service to America Career Achievement Medal for her service as Ambassador to Kenya and advocacy for U.S. action in Rwanda.
Ambassador Bushnell has worked on some of the most trying international challenges of the past quarter-century. She guided the U.S. Embassy in Kenya through the 1998 bombings and was a leading voice for the nation in urging a response to the ethnic genocide in Rwanda. Ambassador Bushnell will be honored along with seven other award recipients tonight at a dinner and awards ceremony at the East Hall of Union Station in Washington, D.C.
