Purchase of Cuban Cigars by Employees of the U.S Interest Section in Havana for Transport to the United States


Question:   Are U.S. government employees of the U.S. Interest Section in Havana prohibited from bringing Cuban cigars to the United States for personal use?

Answer:   Current rules that prohibit the importation of Cuban cigars into the United States apply to all persons subject to U.S. jurisdiction, including the staff of the U.S. Interest Section in Havana, Cuba. This prohibition also applies to U.S. government staff temporarily assigned to the Interest Section.
