Becoming a Registered ECF User
Step 1 - Review and ensure you meet the minimum requirements for case filing, and take the short quiz entitled, “The Facts about ECF” to find out what it means to be an e-filer in the Northern District of Texas.
- If you are already a registered ECF filer in another district,
you are not required to complete a training course or Connectivity
Exercise.
If you are an attorney, complete the Registration form contained in the ECF Registration Packet, and return to the court to receive your live login and password to the Electronic Filing System.
If you are already an ECF creditor filer registered in another district, you only need to complete the Creditor Registration Form and return to the court to receive your live login and password to the Electronic Filing System. - If you are not already certified in another district, go to Step 2.
Step 2 - Choose and complete one of the following classroom training programs. Choose either the debtor attorney, creditor attorney, or Chapter 7 trustee course. The classroom training provides 3.75 hours of CLE credit. Click on one of the classes below to view available training dates. If you are not registered in another district, you must complete the training requirement.
The online attorney tutorial cannot be used to meet the training requirement. Attorneys who are not registered ECF users in another district, must attend a classroom training session to become a registered ECF user in the Northern District of Texas.
*For creditor/claims filers, you only need to complete the online creditor filer tutorial and then complete Steps 3 and 4 below. Classroom training is not required for limited creditor filers.
