Site History and Remarks

Gages operated at slightly different locations from:

1909:  Records for August to October 1909 published in WSP 272 and 492, have been found to be unreliable and should not be used. (Water-Data Report WA-94-1)

1927-1934:  August 1927 to September 1934: 1.2 miles upstream from mouth, published as "near Cougar". (Water-Data Report WA-94-1)

1954-1973:  October 1954 to December 1973: 4.2 miles upstream from mouth, destroyed by flood of January 1974. (Water-Data Report WA-94-1)

1980-1983:  Records for August 1980 to September 1981 (discharge measurements only) and October 1981 to September 1983 at site 4.5 mi upstream published as "above Clear Creek" (station 14216350) is not equivalent due to inflow between sites. (Water-Data Report WA-94-1)

1983 - ?  The gaging station was moved from "above Clear Creek" to "below Clear Creek" (0.5 miles upstream of mouth), with records at the new location beginning with the 1984 water year. Suspended-sediment data were collected at Clear Creek (station 14216450) to measure the intervening suspended-sediment discharge, which was found to be insignificant relative to the suspended-sediment discharge of Muddy River above Clear Creek. (Dinehart, 1992)
