USGS Frequently Asked Questions

Question: How can I get DLG data into AutoCAD?

Answer:

USGS DLG files must be translated into DXF before AutoCAD can read the files. Here is one way this can be accomplished:

Download DLG to DXF converter from either BLM GIS Utilities or USGS ftp sites. There are different versions of this program depending on the version of AutoCAD.

  • DLG2DXF - for AutoCAD v12 and earlier
  • DLGLX133 - for AutoCAD v13 and later
These are available at ftp://ftp.blm.gov/pub/gis http://thor-f5.er.usgs.gov/dxf
