USGS Frequently Asked Questions

Question: How do I get files off the county digital orthophoto quadrangle (DOQ) CD-ROM?

Answer:

A program (with a menu interface) to extract DOQs from a CD-ROM is provided with the data. At a DOS prompt, type DOQ and follow the instructions. File-naming convention seems to be a problem in this process. The menu interface allows users to pick which quadrangle they want to download by its name (that is, Buck Hill Falls NW), but when the file is written to the output directory, it is named o4107554.nwr and has an accompanying header file o4107554.nwh. All of the georeferencing information will be found in the .nwh file. NOTE: The batch file (doq.bat) used to extract DOQs from the CD-ROM will NOT work under Windows NT.
