Question: How can I view USGS digital raster graphics (DRGs)?

Answer:

Depending on a users needs, various viewers and other software are capable of importing a DRG. Factors for determining what software to use include intended usage, cost, and especially the ability to read a TIFF 6.0 image . Listed below are a few types of software for use with DRGs.

FREE or Shareware

  • dlgv32pro - Free USGS Windows viewer for DLGs has been modified to view DRGs.
  • ArcExplorer - Free viewer, Georeferencing, print Windows 95
  • Polyview - Shareware for Windows 95 and Windows NT
  • Paint Shop PRO - Shareware image software Windows
There are larger GIS/CAD software packages that will read DRGs (and much more). Be aware that some software may require add-on modules. Most of this type of software is for the serious mapper, and much if it has versions available for a variety of platforms. Imaging Software (no georeferencing)
