USGS Frequently Asked Questions

Question: How can I clip the map collar off my digital raster graphic (DRG)?

Answer:

UNIX ONLY:
A set of ARC Macro Language (AML) programs and C source are available at http://thor-f5.er.usgs.gov/drg/clip A couple of problems arise with the clipping. Because of the map angle, sliver areas (areas with no data) are created when the collar is clipped. These programs take care of this problem by copying map data from the adjoining quadrangles (if the quadrangles are available). These programs have been compiled for DG/UX 5.4.2 and for HP/UX. Soon to be compiled for IRIX 6.2. Source and executables are provided in tar files.
