USGS Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Why should I take time to preview a satellite image?

Answer:

At 10/23/2001 01:55 PM we wrote -

- To determine the extent and location of cloud cover.
- Confirm geographical location.
- To observe quality problems such as speckling, line drops, and sun glint. However, note that preview images are subsampled from the original data and may not accurately represent the full resolution image (i.e., some anomalies may not be visible on a browse image due to the subsampling process).
