Part I - Implementation Manual - Revised December 2002

CMS recommends that HHAs, state agencies, and regional offices download the December 2002 revision of Part 1 - Implementation Manual of the OASIS User's Manual. We recommend that each new chapter be printed so agencies can be assured that their manual is complete and accurate. These revised .zip files contain the revised Chapter 8 and revised Appendix C shown below. The December 2002 revision is two zip files: Chapters_pdf.zip and Appendices_pdf.zip.

Revised Chapter 8

Due to the changes issued by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act 0f 1996 (HIPAA), Chapter 8 is revised to reflect home health agencies ability to be compliant with the use of current ICD-9-CM guidelines. Please read the new language effective October 1, 2003 for these items: M0230/240 Diagnosis and Severity Index, and M0245 Payment Diagnosis. You are also directed to read changes to M0016 Branch ID that will be effective for assessments completed on or after January 1, 2004. CMS recommends that HHAs, state agencies, and regional offices download the revised Chapter 8 because some pages have been renumbered since the December 2002 revision.

Revised Appendix C

The Universal Assessment Form, sample clinical record assessment forms and a patient tracking sheet which incorporate the OASIS-B1 (10/2003) data items into the home health agency clinical records are available. Download revised Appendix C in PDF format (1.2MB).

This manual covers the data submission process for home health agencies, including how to access the state system that will be used for electronic data submission, procedures for submitting data (including corrections of previously submitted data), and interpretation of feedback reports from the state system. It is recommended that you download the two revised zips files because pagination changes have occurred with the addition of the Report Search features in Appendix A.

The revised HHA System User's Guide Version 4.2 (11/2003) is provided here in the Systems Users Guide Part I.zip (1290KB) and Part II.zip files (898KB). Please download the zip files and print the contents to replace your previous HHA System User's Guide.

OASIS Validation Report Messages and Description Guide

We have updated the HHA Error Message Guide.zip (409KB) to provide you with a manual which describes the types of reports and messages you can expect to see in response to your electronic submission of OASIS data. This guide is updated to reflect the OASIS-B1(12/2002) version. This manual is designed to help you interpret your feedback reports. Note: The Roster Report is revised; assessments with an effective date more than 180 days in the past will no longer display in the Roster Report.

Part 3 - HAVEN System Reference Manual (September 2003)

This manual covers the use of HAVEN 6.2 software, which has been developed to provide home health agencies with software for data entry, editing, and validation of OASIS data. It includes information on setting up the software, defining agency and employee information, entering patient and assessment data, and data management functions.

The HAVEN System Reference Manual is provided here in the file hhahelp.pdf (72 pages) (PDF 4.5MB).

In addition to the HAVEN System Reference Manual, the following files contain information about HAVEN that users will find useful. These files, as well as the HAVEN System Reference Manual, can also be printed from your HAVEN 6.2 CD.
