High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP) with Health Savings Accounts (HSA)

Photo of Director Kay Coles James

"Thank you for considering tax-free Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) as a potential option in your total health care benefits program. HSAs, along with a High Deductible Health Plan, provide you flexibility and discretion over how your health care dollars are spent. I believe the Federal Team should have additional health plan options which empower personal decision-making and maximize their ability to put more of their hard-earned dollars to work toward their own medical needs and those of their families. One of the ways we have identified to help those in the Federal Team save money is by providing access to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)."

"We have also put together a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page in an effort to ensure you are fully informed on this new flexibility. If after you review it, you have remaining questions, please email those to FAQSuggestion@opm.gov. The FAQs will be periodically updated to address your questions."

Office of Personnel Management

This website has been quickly developed to meet requests from FEHB beneficiaries for initial information on the new Health Savings Accounts just announced by OPM Director Kay Coles James. The content will be updated as information becomes available.
