• About 54 percent of facilities had managed care contracts in 1999, as compared to 32 percent in 1995.

• This report shows the percent of treatment facilities with managed care contracts in each state in both 1995 and 1999.

• The proportion of managed care facilities increased in all States except Alabama between 1995 and 1999.

This Short Report, The DASIS Report:  Growth of Managed Care in Substance Abuse Treatment, is based on the Drug and Alcohol Services Information System (DASIS), the primary source of national data on substance abuse treatment.  DASIS is conducted by the Office of Applied Studies (OAS) in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
