Endangered
Species Grants to States, Territories and Private Landowners
Grants for private
landowners
The Private Stewardship
Program provides assistance directly to landowners for managing their
lands in ways that benefit species and their habitats. It was begun in
fiscal year 2002 (with grants first awarded in FY 2003) and funded through
the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Private landowners may also be eligible
for funding made available to states and territories through the Cooperative
Endangered Species Conservation Fund.
