The Administration for Children and Families' Adoption Excellence Awards recognize States, agencies, organizations, businesses, and individuals that have demonstrated excellence in providing stable, permanent homes for children in foster care.

AdoptUSKids
The Children's Bureau contracted with the Adoption Exchange Association and its partners (the Collaboration to AdoptUSKids) to devise and implement a national adoptive family recruitment and retention strategy, operate the AdoptUSKids.org website, enhance adoptive family support organizations, and conduct a variety of adoption research projects.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the National Consortium for Post Legal Adoption Services, a coalition of child welfare agencies and mental health providers in Michigan, Arizona, Illinois, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin, received an Adoption Opportunities grant to create a "concept model of post adoption services." This diagram is a model of the guiding principles of adoption support and preservation and the characteristics and outcomes of post-adoption services.
