Cathy E. Minehan
President, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston

Ms. Minehan took office on July 13, 1994, as the twelfth chief executive of the First District Federal Reserve Bank, at Boston. She is currently serving a full term that began March 1, 2001.

Ms. Minehan was born on February 15, 1947, in Jersey City, New Jersey. She earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from New York University in 1977 and was graduated from the University of Rochester in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in political science.

Ms. Minehan began her career with the Federal Reserve System in 1968, holding various staff positions at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, including bank examiner, analyst, and supervisory positions in Public Information and Accounting Control. She was named Operations Analysis Officer in 1975 and served as manager of the Management Information Department from 1976 to 1978. In 1978 she served as visiting assistant secretary to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Upon returning to the New York Reserve Bank in 1979, she was named assistant vice president, with responsibilities in data processing and, subsequently, as a senior aide to the president. In 1982 she was named vice president and over the next five years served in the Accounting, Check Processing, and Funds and Securities areas. In 1987 she was named senior vice president, with responsibility for the Funds, Securities, and Accounts Group. She was named first vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston in 1991, and she held that position until she was named president of that Bank in July 1994.

Ms. Minehan is active in civic and community affairs. She serves on the boards of many professional and educational organizations, including the Boston Private Industry Council, the Boston Municipal Research Bureau, Jobs for Massachusetts, the New England Council, the Boston Public Library Foundation, and the Massachusetts Business Roundtable. She is a trustee of the University of Rochester and Bentley College and serves on the board of advisers of the Carroll School of Management at Boston College.
