NIDA/SAMHSA-ATTC
Blending Initiative

Addiction Severity Index

Primary Goal:

To improve the quality and efficiency of services by enhancing and simplifying the data infrastructure by systematic integrating the ASI within the intake process, treatment planning, and service delivery functions of treatment programs.

Strategy: Develop a Managers training package for “Electronic Integration of the ASI with Treatment Planning” to implement ASI data collection and reporting procedures.

Dissemination Products:

SSA Briefing. An “Exposure” module for SSA directors and staff concerning the above, to include the availability and functionality of DENS. This will be a 30-minute individualized briefing presentation to alert the SSAs about the initiative, the problems it addresses, and the resources and trainings that are becoming available.

Training package for clinical coordinators and program directors on the Principles of Treatment Care Planning (TCP): Using the ASI to enhance the intake process. This will be a multi-hour training package consisting of modules to be identified. Included in the training package or as a separate product, ATTCs will include training modules for:

  • How to assess using computers
  • How to do TCP based on Assessments
  • Model curriculum and materials for addictions educators in the academic arena for infusion into college course content.
